I just came in from feeding the animals. While I was out, I photographed the wool from yesterday’s shearing. I’m always on the look-out for images that will make great book covers, so while I snapped away, I thought, mmm…wool…perhaps.
Below is the cover I whipped up just to see what a close up shot of wool might look like. This is not an actual book, just a fun let’s see what it looks like thing.
Now, it’s back to work. The battle scene in Chapter 39 won’t wait. It’s one of the most difficult scenes in the book because one of the bad guys who weaselled his way into my heart must…die.
I agree with Darlene, cool cover. You just proved that covers can be rather simple yet look great at the same time..I like that!

Thanks, Laura. When the sheep shearer folded back the fresh wool, I was amazed at the colours. Although the sheared sheep look odd, their wool is beautiful. The shearer’s wife called the colour heather. This is all new to me, so I’m learning as I go.

Cool cover! Good luck with chapter 30 and sorry about the demise of a character you have come to care about. Your readers will care too. XO

Thanks, Darlene. I love art and photography, so building covers for books is play time. I could do it all day. As for the wonderful bad guy who dies in book one, there are others in book two who make up for his demise. I certainly find it difficult to kill off characters I’ve become attached to.
